And since this is a bucket list trip, I did two things back-to-back that I had to do. First, I went to Tokyo Station using several subway trains. I love trains and I just had to see the main station in Tokyo - Tokyo Station. Then I Took the train line that makes a big loop around Tokyo - the Yanamoto, or the green line, to Subuya station. I mapped it all out so that I could navigate the de facto most complex and busiest station to exit onto Hachiko Square. Hachiko Square, named after a dog Hachiko, is one of the most popular meeting spots in Tokyo and is the location of arguably the busiest pedestrian crossings in the world (if you've seen a movie that was at some point in Tokyo, then you've seen the pedestrian crosswalks).
But I was there mainly to get a picture of the statue of Hachiko. Hachiko came to this spot of Subuya Station for nine years until his death to meet his that never came because he died unexpectedly at work. I learned of Hachiko by watching the movie "Hachi: a dog's tale" starring Richard Gere many years ago. I enjoyed the movie and so moved that I wanted to one day see the statue, and so I did. I highly, highly recommend that you watch the movie but be sure to have some tissues on hand.
I have so much enjoyed my stay here. The Japanese people are very quiet, polite, and respectful, something that is all but absent in the land of the orange man.
It'll be a very long day tomorrow as I travel to the land down under in the Southern Hemisphere. Time to Strat practicing my 'G-day mate!"
Until next time, be safe, be kind and peace out people.
