I decided to find and enjoy something that has been absent many days during this RTW trip - some good, strong coffee. Whereas I drink a 7-11 Big-Glup sized coffee at home, I've gone many, many days without coffee. Yes, Virginia, Dad hasn't been at base-line for quite some time and you know what that means. I found a nice place a block away from the hotel and I had a Cappuccino and a large Americano (although I never got close to baseline). The coffee was good, and the people at the place were very nice and I had a Bit of a chat.
I then took the subway to the river and then a tram to Belém with the goal of seeing the Belém tower and the monument to Discovery. I got a good bit of walking in but then I found a food truck at the waterfront with a great view of the water, the bridge, and the monument to Discovery. The guys that ran the food truck were awesome so I just chilled (literally, cause it was COLD being next to the water). and I chilled. I was doing what I love - being near water, getting lost in my thoughts, watching people going about their lives, and having a beer. After several-plus hours I did the trek to the nearest tram stop, then took the subway back to the plaza near my hotel.
It was a good day in spite of what my knee is now saying. No worries because all this is part of my master plan - I may HAVE to rest up tomorrow because it's suppose to rain for most of the day. No worries, remember that saying to improvise and overcome?
Until next time, be safe, be kind and catch you on the flip side.
