And would I come back to Bamberg - most definitely (ganz bestimmt). It has everything that I love about German cities - beautiful, colorful buildings, multiple neat bridges, historical sites, and of course, bier.
Bamberg is home to Rauschbier. Literally translated as Smoke Beer, Rauschbier is a centuries old brew that can only be found in Bamberg and to my knowledge only one place - the place that brews it. As "luck" would have it, my path was guided to the establishment within an hour of checking into the hotel.
Rauschbier is dark, very dark, so dark that it makes Guinness look clear. Its taste, as one might expect, as a smokey favor but I liked it. Of course being a scientist I had to have a second glass to do statistics and all.
The old city of Bamberg (where I'm staying and exploring) is a very walkable city and as all German cities and towns very clean and safe. I definitely would like to come back because there are a lot of great sites to photograph. But for this trip I'm off to another city tomorrow (Sunday 15/12/24). But you'll have to read the next post to find out where - how's that for a cliff hanger?
Until next time, be safe, be kind and peace out people.
