I didn't post my last day in Germany because I really didn't do anything note worthy> I did hope on an early train for an 1.5 hour ride from Munich to Regensburg but when I stepped out of the train station in Regensburg it was so bone-chilling cold with a light rain and strong wind I turned right around and took the next train back!
The next day was a travel day - took the train to the Munich Airport and then flew to Madrid and then onto Lisboa (Lisbon) Portugal. It was a big day of new things or a day of news. It was the first time that I flew out of Germany without having to go through immigration (EU country to EU country; Germany to Spain/Portugal), nice, but no passport stamp for me this time bucko; new airline - Iberia; new countries (Spain and Portugal); new international commuter (small plane) flight; new language - Portuguese . So it was definitely a day of "news."
The travel day was pretty good. It's certainly easier doing a 12 hour day of traveling than a 24 hour day. No immigration control in Lisbon. My hotel for the night was about a 4 minute walk from the airport - sweet.
So today, 14 February is my first full day in Lisbon. Took the subway from the airport to close to my hotel for the next 5 nights. Let's just say that Lisbon is my kind of place. An old, yet modern, European city with a lot of history and a great setting. My hotel is spitting (remember the signs from New Delhi - no spitting!) distance from a large plaza (Rossio) and offers plenty of opportunities to people watch and get some good photos. I did do a lot of exploring. Had a good time but the cobblestone streets and sidewalks is really rough on my knees (thanks to those of you that asked about my knee and "shame" on you for those that didn't) so I may have to take it a little slower tomorrow until I see how my knee is after some rest.
I think this just may work out fine.
Until next time, be safe, be kind and WTF is happening in the US. I, by choice, avoid the news except for the German broadcasts but they're starting to say some "harsh" words about the administration and their policies. Please do NOTE that my question about what is going on was only rhetorical - I don't want to know..
